There are a total of 170 questions on the TEAS; however, twenty of them are unscored, pre-test questions and used only by the test makers to gather information. That means 150 of the questions you answer will count toward your score. Keep in mind that you will not know which questions will be unscored, so you must answer all of the questions on the exam.

How long is the ATI TEAS exam?

What type of questions are on the ATI TEAS exam?

You will also be scanned with a metal detector wand before entering the test room. You will not be allowed to bring any personal items, such as calculators or phones, into the testing room. You may not bring pens, pencils, or scratch paper. Prohibited items also include hats, scarves, and coats. You may wear religious garments, however. Most facilities provide lockers for valuables. Check with your facility for details.

When will I get my ATI TEAS score?

Once you have completed your test, you will receive a score report; you can also request to receive the report via email. Scores will be sent separately to the schools you specified when you registered.

How is the ATI TEAS exam scored?

Each section is scored separately on a scale of 0–100. Different nursing programs require different scores, so check with your program to find out what scores you need for your application.

The computer-administered version of the TEAS is scored immediately after you take it. You will receive your scores on-site. If you take the pencil-and-paper version of the test, ATI will score your exam within 48 hours of receiving it from the testing site. Your scores are automatically sent to the schools you chose when you signed up for the exam.

There is no guess penalty on the TEAS — that is, if you get a question wrong, you do not lose any points. So if you don’t know the answer to a question, guess; you might get the question right!

All sections on the TEAS will include some pilot, unscored questions. The test writers use these questions to test new material. These questions do not count toward your final score. However, you won’t know which questions are unscored as you’re taking the test, so you must answer every question.

What is a passing score on the ATI TEAS exam?

You cannot pass or fail the TEAS exam. A candidate’s score simply shows their level of comprehension and skill. Each school has its own entrance requirements, so be sure to check the requirements of the institutions you want to attend so you can set appropriate goals for yourself.
